Packaging and brand identity for natural specimens encased in acrylic resin.

Over the years, I’ve collected a few natural specimens for home décor purposes. When I picked up a slick new scorpion, I realized a design opportunity. Everywhere I’ve seen these sold, none of them have packaging worth keeping. You could argue that the resin itself is the packaging, but that’s no fun. Typical specimens are sold as is or in generic wrapping, so I wanted to create something memorable, educational, and that matched the quality of the product itself. 

I designed a brand identity and packaging system for a trifecta of desert-dwelling arthropods, combining digital illustrations with matchbox-style packaging to give them the presence they deserved. The idea was to make something people would want to display, not toss.
